Wayne Trace Grover Hill Elementary News
As we close out a successful first semester and prepare for the beginning of the second, we want to thank the students along with our parents for an outstanding first semester. Students efforts were strong, and as we look over the data, we see growth in each students’ academic process. The month of February is a month full of activities. A few of the events taking place in February are the Paulding County Spelling Bee, STEAM Night, Valentine’s Day, and preparations for kindergarten registration.
First, we would like to congratulate all students who participated in this year's local Spelling Bee. We especially want to recognize Riley Manz. Riley is this year’s Spelling Bee champion for Grover Hill Elementary. Riley is the son of Greg and Julie Manz. We also want to recognize Colton Kimmel, who is this year’s runner-up. Colton is the son of Josh and Carrie Kimmel. On February 6thRiley will compete in the county spelling bee to be held at Paulding Middle School. We would like to wish Riley the best of luck as he represents WTGH in this year’s county competition.
WTGH teachers have scheduled STEAM Night for February 13th. This year, just as in years past the WTGH staff has worked for months putting together an evening full of great activities. With the addition of the Virtual Reality station along with many other stations, we know you will have an enjoyable experience.
Next, during February we will celebrate Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is a special day, but for the students it has become more than just passing out Valentines. The students have taken this opportunity to demonstrate their artistic abilities. Each year the students’ have a chance to display their artistic abilities as they create amazing Valentines boxes. This year we will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 14thby ending the day with classroom parties.
In closing, February is also a time to begin preparation for next school year. One major event we are preparing for is Kindergarten Screening. Even though Kindergarten Screening is not until April, we need to begin the process in February. So, at this time we are making preparations for kindergarten screening held in April. If you have a child who will be five before September 30, 2019, and plan for them to attend Kindergarten or the Transitional Kindergarten class next year, you need to contact the Grover Hill Elementary office for registration information. You may contact the Grover Hill Elementary office at 419-399-4100 to begin this registration process.
